The administration is making continuous efforts to transform Panchkula into a cleaner, well-organised, and smarter city. In this direction, Chief Executive Officer of the Panchkula Metropolitan Development Authority (PMDA), K Makarand Pandurang, along with the Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation and officers from PMDA, MCP, HSVP, and the Traffic Police, conducted a surprise inspection of major roads, intersections, and prominent parks in the city on Sunday.

During the inspection, Pandurang emphasised the importance of road and lane cleaning, trimming of roadside bushes, removal of traffic bottlenecks, and tree plantation in green belts and parks. He directed the Municipal Corporation to ensure regular cleaning of roads and identify suitable garbage collection points to avoid inconvenience to the public and traffic.

At the herbal parks, the CEO instructed the construction of additional toilets and the renovation of existing ones. He issued strict orders to the contractor to complete all assigned civil works within the stipulated timeframe while maintaining high-quality standards. On the recommendation of the Traffic Police, the CEO approved the installation of two sensor-based traffic lights on the dividing road between Sectors 20 and 21.

The CEO visited Tau Devi Lal Park and inspected the roads of Sectors 3/21, 20/21, 24/25, 25/26, 26/27, 27/28, and Sector 23. He also reviewed the multi-specialty park being developed with HSVP and expressed displeasure over the slow pace of work. Directing the Chief Engineer of HSVP to expedite construction, he also ordered immediate repair of damaged “Mastic Asphalt” on the bridge near the Golf Club to ensure smooth traffic flow. In addition, he instructed officials to ensure the proper functioning of music systems and lighting in all parks.

Inspecting the Cactus Garden, Pandurang directed that it be developed to international standards. At the Town Park, he instructed the creation of a water body for children’s boating, installation of a musical fountain, and modernisation of the Bonsai and Meditation Gardens in consultation with expert agencies. The CEO further directed officers to visit their allotted parks daily and submit regular progress reports to ensure constant monitoring of the quality and pace of work.
